ABOUT ME
Carol graduated in English Literature, Art History at Leeds University and then trained for three years at the Académie des Beaux Arts in Brussels in Life Drawing and Etching.
For many years she specialised in Botanical Art and exhibited with the Society of Botanical Artists in London, at the celebrated festival of arts and crafts “Art in Action” in Oxfordshire (UK), and was a medal winner at the Royal Horticultural Society exhibitions in London on several occasions.
She spent some years working on a commission to illustrate the renowned Abbey Gardens on Tresco, Isles of Scilly. Her work is held in various private collections in the UK and Europe and
at the Hunt Institute for Botanical Art in the USA.
Carol works from her studio in Brabant-Wallon, the French speaking part of Belgium where she lives with her husband. Her own rather untamed garden with its collection of old English roses provides much material for her work, as do winter visits to Venice.
She is currently interested in illustration using Copperplate calligraphy and finding inspiration in the beauty and precision of Flemish painting of the Northern Renaissance.
